The Cell Ultimo E1.0 is designed to give you the confidence to get back on a bike. There is no e-bike specific knowledge required to ride it, it rides just like a regular bike – the only difference you will notice is the smile you get from when the motor first kicks in.
The low step-through frame, makes it very easy to get on and off and you might just find you use the bike more than you expect. The internal routing keeps the cabling out of sight and preserves the clean lines of the bike.
The battery sits in the rear rack and as such the bike retains its classic Dutch styling. The elasticated straps included make carrying luggage, just that much more convenient. The Dutch styling is continued with the matching tan grips, saddle and balloon tyres – these have been designed not just with fashion in mind but also for comfort.
It is the small details that mean so much. Thought has gone into every component on the bike to ensure your experience is a positive one. The battery is located in the rear rack, which makes it super easy to remove when you need to take it inside to recharge. Even the key that is used to lock battery, is hinged, so that it doesn’t get bent. Should you ever lose the keys provided, the barrel is numbered so that we can get duplicates made for you.
The drivetrain is provided by Shimano, with a 7 speed revo gripshift, which is each to use and intuitive. The smooth-shifting gears sit on a freehub, which is vastly superior to the outdated freewheel systems that you see on low-end bikes and ensures reliability for years to come.
Front and rear lights that are provided are much more than decoration, with the powerful front light that can be used on paths without any streetlights. The rear light also has an additional light that comes on whilst braking, for additional safety. The lights are fully integrated and source their power from the rear rack battery, and hence you don’t have to worry about recharging them separately.
All the e-bike electrical components come from the same brand, Entity. Sourcing a complete system from a single brand means that each component works in complete synchronicity. This results in a system that is not only reliable but also powerful – with 40Nm of torque, the motor is one of the most powerful in its class and yet is still whisper quiet. The Entity E200 system is feature-packed with an all-in-one LCD display which includes a USB charge port. From the display, you can control the level of assistance, activate the lights, as well as a handy walk-assist feature. Incredibly the system also features a smartphone app. The Entity Ride App, available for both IOS and Android, has inbuilt maps and navigation as well as additional system and ride information.
It is reassuring to note that the Ultimo E1.0 is fully tested not just to the Australian standards – AS15194 but also to the stricter European standard EN15194.
Ultimately the bike is so much more than the sum of the parts, and we have put so much thought into it, so you don’t have to. All you need to do is enjoy the ride.
